Wine of the Week | Finca San Martín 2008 [Red] Torre de Oña, purchased by La Rioja Alta in 1995, is one of the few genuine estate properties in the Rioja Alavesa. They produce two estate-bottled red wines: Barón de Oña Reserva and Finca San Martín Crianza. Interesting wines from a truly beautiful property. Medium dark cherry red color, clear & bright. Very Rioja on the nose: dark berry fruit (blueberries), straw/hay and forest floor aromas, and a reminder of crisp dry toast. Smooth, elegant and easy on the palate with blueberries, toffee/coffee, a hint of graphite. Polished tannins and a creamy, almost chocolaty finish. Very good. [$M] |
