Wine of the Week | Convento Oreja Crianza 2007 [Red] In general, the 2007 vintage has shown well; and this wine is no exception. Convento de Oreja is a small, family operation and uses only Tempranillo grapes grown on small plots in the PeƱafiel area. A nice wine and an excellent value. Bright cherry red color, a little bit closed at the start; but opens nicely with a bit of aeration. Smoke, dried grass and blueberry aromas predominate on the nose. The palate's fresh and fruity (cherry/blueberry) with clean, lively tannins. The finish is almost sweet with good balance between tannins and fruit. Very good. [$M] |
