Wine of the Week | Ultreia St. Jacques 2008 [Red] Raúl Pérez is clearly one of the Bierzo region's key players. His top wine, Ultreia de Valtuille 2005, was one of the Wine Advocate's 100 point picks. Made from the local Mencía grape, this is a fine, cost-effective example of what Bierzo's all about. Excellent. Dark color and a terrific nose with floral notes, spice and bright berry fruit (cherry/blueberry). Rich, fruity (bing cherries) and clean on the palate; multi-layered with flowers (rose petals) and a touch of candied orange peel. Great finish. [$M] |
