Wine of the Week | Sierra Cantabria Colección Privada 1998 [Red] Made from hand selected old vines Tempranillo grapes (50 years), this stellar wine is a mix of grapes fermented in carbonic maceration (50%) and the remainder destememed and fermented normally. The result is a genuine surprise package, and a wine that should work well with prime rib or a standing rib roast. Cherry red color, medium depth, bright. Fresh fruit and bubble gum aromas dominate the nose, along with a spicy touch of fine oak. The palate's fresh and again dominated by the carbonic maceration's classic bubble gum component, fresh red berry fruit and nicely built-in oak. Excellent. [$H] |
