Tinto de verano (special wine cooler)
"Summer red wine", a Spanish take on a wine cooler, but so much better. Popular across the country and a nice alternative to wine when the weather heats up. Inexpensive and easy to make, backyard BBQ stuff.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unoaked hearty/fruity red wine like this Tempranillo-based red from Castilla y León or a Garnacha from Calatayud.
- Lemon soda
- Red vermouth
- Angostura bitters
Preparation
- Fill a pint glass with ice and add:
- 1/2 cup red wine.
- Fill with lemon soda
- Top with two drops Angostura bitters and healthy shot of red vermouth.
- Serve with a wheel of lemon, lime or orange. Enjoy
Note:
1. Any unoaked red wine will do, one with body and a decent dose of alcohol.
2. Any lemon or lime soda will get the job done, 7-Up for example.
